Jack's Comments:

This bushing is used to connect the all 4-speed transmission lockout rods to the lower steering column lever. This is not just a pieces of rubber or plastic, it's made with Oilon, a modern, oil-infused nylon material that is self-lubricating and conforms to Ford's original design specifications. It is not easy to install even though its made to exact Ford specifications (see install tips below).  If your car is missing this lockout rod bushing and you can't find an original this is the best available reproduction available. Last picture shows bushing installed on steering column without rod.

UPDATE: I recently changed the accuracy rating from seven to ten because the darker olive green color is exactly like the originals now.

Manufactures Installation Tips:

Press the bushing into place with the steering column on a work bench. A c-clamp and socket will do the trick. The material is firm enough that it won't compress if you try to push it in by hand. I tried to install one with the column in the car and there just wasn't enough room to use tools. The fit between the rod and the inner diameter is tight. If you have trouble installing the rod you might need to remove a little bit of material with a rat-tail file or drill bit.

Other Applications:

1970 - 1973 Ford Mustang
1971 - 1972 Ford Maverick
1970 and 1972 Mercury Cougar\
