Jack's Comments:

Tags are for drag pack cars, ONLY with manual transmission and 3.90 to 1 or 4.30 to 1, series gears. The engineering number tag attaches anywhere in the middle section of the cable, with the plain yellow tag located within two inches away from the main cable tag.

Note: A few 428 SCJ automatic drag pack mustangs where built. These cables where somewhat shorter than the manual ones, and would likely have carried a different tag number, but we have not been able to validate that cable information.

Concours Note: Mustangs with "low" rear-end ratios (3.91:1 or 4.30:1) often came equipped with a gear adapter (often referred to as a reducer) to adjust the rotation speed of the speedometer cable. This adapter, combined with various speedometer cables, speedometer drive gears, speedometer driven gears, and tire size options, was used to ensure that the speedometer was accurate within specified tolerances.
