Jack's Comments:
This backup switch wire harness retainer is an exact reproduction. Give Ed Meyer credit for pushing to get this odd retainer reproduced. Most of us, including me, have never even seen this clip, except in a poor drawing in the electrical assembly manual. This retainer is installed on the most forward shifter-mounting bolt with the plastic clip up. See pictures showing how it should be installed. It's also been verified that two of these clips were used for the same purpose in 1967-1968.
There was also a wire harness retainer for the backup switch further up on the center of the firewall. It was Plastic J-hook Style and looked a lot like the backup transmission wire harness retainer.
* For 1967-1968 Mustang/Shelby, you will need 2 wire harnesses. They get mounted into the first and last screw holes on the top of the transmission cover. They are installed with the bracket facing the top of the tunnel.
