Jack's Comments:

This is a very accurate 1969 Mustang V8 (with tach) alternator wire harness that connects the alternator to the main engine compartment harness. This is the second version made in 1969 that has the single ground terminal that connects to the back of the alternator vs the block.

Change over Notes:
The FORD MPC doesn't note the ground wire change from the block to this simplified version. The only documentation we have is a quality control inspection tag for this harness Bob Perkins had in his collection (see last picture). The tag was dated January 20, 1969 so we would have to conclude Ford was using this version after this date. We have also documented this harness on a survivor 428 CJ Mach 1 with the build date of June 12, 1969.

Includes terminal caps. NOTE: There is a less expensive reproduction on the market but its a lower quality import with poor fitting rubber terminal boot.

The second picture is an original wire harness that has never been removed. It shows the metal/vinyl clip we have available and the plastic clip strapped on with 1/2" wide cloth tape. TIP: We use our 3/4" cloth tape cut down to 1/2" since 1/2" cloth tape is no longer available.

BOSS 429 Concours Notes:
The BOSS 429 didn't use the metal/vinyl clip. They only used the black plastic retaining clip wrapped with cloth tape. The harness would be installed just like the picture below except for the metal/vinyl clip.

Common Questions:
Q: What is the length of the wire harness from the exposed wires on the dog bone boot to the end of the four wire terminal connector?
A: 15 1/2"

Q: What are the wire colors?
A: Large wire = Black (male), small wire next to large wire = Orange (male), small wire next to orange wire = White with black stripe (male), small wire next to white/black wire = Black with red stripe (female), Ground wire = Black with red stripe.

1969 Mustang & Shelby with factory standard or deluxe tach dash
