Jack's Comments:
This hardware kit is used to secure the hood latch to the grill/latch support and the catch (also known as striker or hook) to the hood. Assembly manuals indicate the two dark phosphate bolts should be used on the latch and the two cadmium (silver) bolts and J-nuts should be used on the catch.
Concours Notes:
There is evidence that Ford preferred use dark hardware in the viewable grill area so it looked black when looking at the front of the car. The pictures below of survivor cars show what the Ford engineers specified in the engineering drawings and what the assembly workers did was often different. You should also know Ford used several different head markings for these bolts supplied by many different vendors so the head marking on these bolts may not match what came on your car.
